Club Riichi de Montréal is not a part of nor is directly affiliated with the American Riichi Association (ARA).

The Club Riichi de Montréal organizes regular meetups in gaming cafés and other such venues in the Montréal area. These meetups generally occur every other Sunday with anywhere from 4 to 16 attendees (typically 8+). The club currently has about 30 active members (attending meetups regularly or semi-regularly), and over 350 members in its Discord community.

The club also organizes online play sessions every other Friday, which generally attract between 4 and 8 participants.

Since 2015, the club has hosted the Montréal Riichi Open, an open tournament that usually takes place around early June. In its first year, it attracted 12 players. It grew all the way to 40 players in the 2023 edition, which remains the biggest edition to date.

The club’s logo is based on Montréal’s area code of 514.
